Medical Procurement of Ukraine (MPU) took part in a strategic session with international partners within the World Bank “Health Enhancement And Lifesaving” (HEAL) Ukraine Project.
The Ukrainian side, consisting of the Medical procurement of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health and other state institutions, discussed with representatives of the World Bank, the Council of Europe, the World Health Organization, and USAID the possibilities and priorities for the restoration of the Ukrainian healthcare sector, which was damaged due to military actions by the russian federation.
According to the results of the meeting, key plans for the first project`s quarter and tasks for 2023-2024 were determined in order to implement the large-scale project to rebuild the infrastructure of healthcare facilities and restore Ukrainians' access to treatment as quickly and qualitatively as possible.
"As a result of almost a year of full-scale russian war, hundreds of healthcare institutions were destroyed or damaged throughout the territory of Ukraine. This problem is particularly acute in the de-occupied territories. It is crucial to plan now how we will rebuild this infrastructure and resume the provision of quality medical services to our citizens”, - says Edem Adamanov, MPU`s Acting General Manager.
Meanwhile, according to Tanya Kharchenko, Deputy GM on Customer Experience Management and International Relations, MPU together with the international partners and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector of Ukraine, are currently working on a strategy of reconstruction the hospital infrastructure: "Now we are developing a clear vision and plan for how this significant project should be implemented. Particular emphasis is placed on the issues of transparency and accountability. I am extremely grateful to our international partners who support Ukraine on this path."
