Purchase of armored evacuation vehicles: the first vehicle has already arrived in Ukraine

The first armored vehicle for evacuating the wounded has already arrived in Ukraine and will soon be deployed to the front lines to assist the military.

It was accepted by Minister of Health Viktor Liashko and General Manager of the MPU Edem Adamanov in Lviv.

Last year, the Medical Procurement of Ukraine purchased 13 armored vehicles for evacuating wounded soldiers from the front line. The procurement took place as part of the initiative by President UNITED24 at the request of the Ministry of Health.

These vehicles have high off-road capabilities and are designed for evacuating from 'hot' areas of the front line, where a regular ambulance cannot quickly access, to the nearest medical facility.

Furthermore, the vehicle is reliably protected against bullets and explosions thanks to its high-quality armor that meets NATO ballistic standards. Additionally, the vehicle can continue driving on a 'flat tire' even with severe tire damage. Its range varies from 50 to 150 km depending on the vehicle's weight and road conditions.

The armored vehicles were custom-made for the MPU in Canada. As soon as the other vehicles in the batch are ready, they will be transported to Ukraine and handed over to the military.

"Thanks to President Volodymyr Zelensky's UNITED24 fundraising initiative, Ukraine has received its first armored ambulance for evacuating the wounded. I am grateful to everyone who supports us during these challenging times of full-scale war. Your donations are crucial and, without exaggeration, they save the lives of Ukrainians. Armored ambulances will enable us to do this even more effectively by evacuating the wounded from the hottest frontlines. Overall, the number of such vehicles worldwide is very limited, so they had to be specially made to order," said Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine.

"The armored vehicles purchased by the MPU's team will help evacuate the wounded promptly, even from highly inaccessible front-line areas. These vehicles can navigate off-road terrain. Additionally, both the crew and the injured person being evacuated are protected from injuries in the event of a mine strike, which is crucial in combat conditions. The procurement of these armored vehicles was made through the SAP Ariba system, which the MPU began using last year. This once again emphasizes the importance of improving business processes and implementing advanced global procurement practices," says Edem Adamanov, General Manager of the MPU.
