The Medical Procurement of Ukraine has acquired 16 modern MRI machines for hospitals in Ukraine

The Medical Procurement of Ukraine has procured 16 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines for healthcare facilities by order of the Ministry of Health. This will enable doctors to make precise diagnoses and prescribe effective treatments.

The total contracts value amounted to 556.5 million UAH, while the expected value was 841.4 million UAH. This represents approximately 34% in savings on the procurement.

These 1.5 Tesla MRI machines are designed for detailed visualization of internal organs and body tissues, providing high-quality two-dimensional and three-dimensional images without the use of X-ray radiation.

In particular, these MRI machines enable fast and high-quality examination of the central nervous and cardiovascular systems, abdominal cavity, small pelvis, orthopedics, as well as mammographic studies, and more.

"Today, we have taken another important step towards improving the quality of medical care, better diagnosing various conditions and illnesses in patients. For the first time, the state centrally purchases such a quantity of modern MRI machines, which will help doctors conduct complex examinations and timely identify different diseases, prescribing the necessary treatment," said the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko. "The full-scale war unleashed by russia unfortunately significantly affects the health of Ukrainians. Understanding this, today we are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukrainian hospitals are equipped with everything they need, and our medical professionals, despite the war, have the opportunity to work and provide medical assistance to everyone in need."

"For the first time, the state has centrally purchased modern MRI machines in such quantities. They will enable doctors to quickly establish reliable diagnoses and, consequently, save even more lives. Unfortunately, for a long time, in some regions, this diagnostic method was either unavailable or costly due to the lack of such equipment in public hospitals. Therefore, this procurement is a long-awaited victory," comments Edem Adamanov, the General Manager of the MPU.

According to the preliminary distribution, the MRI machines will go to the regional clinical hospitals in Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zakarpattia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi regions.
