2023 has come to an end, so it's time to summarize. Last year, the Medical Procurement of Ukraine (MPU) centrally purchased medicines, medical products, and equipment for over 9.2 billion UAH. Overall, more than 95% of the planned list was successfully procured.
Medicines and medical products
In 2023, the MPU procured medical goods in 23 areas. The total value of purchased medicines and medical products amounts to almost 7 billion UAH.
Last year, the MPU purchased medical goods in the following areas:
- Pediatric oncology: 92% procured for 404.6 mln UAH
- Blood donation consumables: 100% procured for 495.8 mln UAH
- Adult oncology: 91,5% procured for 2.14 bln UAH
- Diseases with a high mortality rate: 50% procured for 60.2 mln UAH
- Nanism: 100% procured for 73.3 mln UAH
- Disseminated sclerosis: 100% procured for 94.5 mln UAH
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis: 100% procured for 80.6 mln UAH
- Autism and other children's mental disorders: 95,5% for 7.7 mln UAH
- Female infertility: 100% procured for 2.5 mln UAH
- Immunodeficiencies: 85,35% procured for 107 mln UAH
- Cystic fibrosis: 100% procured for 151 mln UAH
- Endoprostheses and implant kits: 100% procured for 106 mln UAH
- Adult hemophilia: 100% procured for 546.5 mln UAH
- Cerebral palsy: 100% procured for 5.4 mln UAH
- Orphan diseases: 100% procured for 4.34 mln UAH
- Pediatric hemophilia: 100% procured for 264.4 mln UAH
- Pulmonary arterial hypertension: 100% procured for 6.3 mln UAH
- Epidermolysis bullosa: 100% procured for 101.2 mln UAH
- Idiopathic familial dystonia: 100% procured for 7.1 mln UAH
- Cardiovascular diseases: 98% procured for 1.27 bln UAH
- Viral hepatitis: 61% procured for 110.3 mln UAH
- Vaccines and immunoprophylaxis for children: 100% for 233.8 mln UAH
- Medical supplies for military needs: 83,9% for 24 mln UAH
- Payment for innovative medicines procured under managed entry agreements (MEAs): 632 mln UAH
Medical equipment
Last year, the Medical Procurement of Ukraine purchased essential and innovative equipment for effective treatment and disease diagnosis. In particular, the following was acquired:
- 15 linear accelerators
- 28 magnetic resonance imaging machines
- 1 dental computed tomography scanner
- Equipment for toxicological examination
- Equipment for forensic medical examination
The total amount of medical equipment purchased by the MPU for Ukrainian hospitals is 2.27 billion UAH.
Peculiarities of the procurement year 2023
Over 46% of the medicines and medical products purchased by the MPU in 2023 have already been distributed to healthcare institutions. Their total value is 2.9 billion UAH. This is almost three times more than the previous year.
Additionally, in 2023, thanks to effective planning, we completed the procurement cycle earlier and saved money. As a result, the saved funds were used for additional purchases of medicines for the treatment of oncology, hemophilia, cardiovascular diseases, blood donation supplies, and essential equipment.
